Part two of the favourite venues!

In this segment, Sarah Balfour of Orchid Events takes us around her next 3 favourite wedding venues in London that make her top 5 list (see her tips as an event planner and the other 2 favourites in the previous post!)

She starts her journey at the Berkeley, steeped in history. The hotel is over a hundred years old, and used to be located in Berkeley Square, hence the name of the hotel. The Berkeley has 65 suites, each beautifully decorated and as opulent as the next. Sarah is shown around the Pavillion Suite, with a separate living space, a luxurious bedroom and expansive bathroom, and even a conservatory! The conservatory leads outside, and overlooks the church.

The next in Sarah’s top 5 wedding venues is the Connaught Hotel, in London’s exclusive Mayfair. Open since 1897, and recently refurbished in 2007, this hotel is a wonderfully indulgent location for a wedding. Capable of holding 120 guests, or 80 for dinner and dancing, the Connaught prides itself on its welcoming atmosphere and a ‘home away from home’ ethos. The personnel are trained to remember every detail, ensuring you can have the most pleasant stay possible. All the weddings are bespoke, and individually tailored to your vision, budget and needs.

The final venue on Sarah’s list is the Banqueting House, located adjacent to the Horse Guards’ Parade, in Whitehall. The lone remainder of the Palace of Whitehall, this building stands impressively tall. The main room, the Banqueting Hall, has high ceiling with a gallery of balconies. The ceiling is adorned with nine paintings done by the world famous Rubens, who painted these in his studio in Antwerp, Belgium and had them shipped over to the Banqueting House. This venue is very versatile, a wedding planner’s dream, as it is so flexible to a variety of events, ideas and visions. Every event at the Banqueting House is unique, and can take advantage of not only the Banqueting Hall, but the undercroft as well.
