4 Keys to Success for your Christmas Event.

With Christmas Day and all the festivities fast approaching, we thought we would spread the Christmas cheer through a themed blog post. Focusing on the best details from all our favourite Christmas parties, we have made 4 keys to success, so you can host a perfect Christmas Event.

Whether you are hosting your own Christmas get-together, or have an Birthday/Wedding/Bar Mitzvah that you would like Christmassy themed, we have you covered.

1. Venue Decoration

The first key to your perfect Christmas event is the venue decoration. The impact and influence the decoration has  should not be underestimated. The decoration sets the atmosphere and mood of the event, allowing you to bring your vision to life in the biggest way possible – a whole room/s can be your canvas!

Furthermore, your venue decoration can really make your event P O P from the rest. With a Christmas Event, there are so many that your guests will attend in a short period of time (work Christmas parties, family Christmas Events etc).

Therefore, yours needs to stand out to grab their attention; and venue decoration  is your go to.

Consider your use of lighting; fairy lights and string lights are a fab way to create a calm and warm atmosphere that so many associate with Christmas and Winter because of Christmas Tree Lights and Candles.

Props and furniture; a Christmas tree or Christmas themed props will not only set the scene from the get-go, but will also separate your Christmas Event from the norm. For example, the use of a traditional Christmas tree would work well, but if you were going for more of a modern twist, you could use thatched reindeers or snowmen – which would also look amazing in photos.

2. Event Stationary

When planning your Christmas Event, a key to success is your Event Stationary. These will be implemented throughout your event; from invitations, menus and table places. Therefore, it is important to have a set style to carry out along all parts of your stationary.

Keep your Christmas Event stationary simple, but eye catching – so that your guests will notice and want to look at it. As seen above, the mint and lilac colour scheme used is the perfect  alternative to a classic Christmas green, red and white. However, the Winter theme of the event still comes through, from the cool tones of the colours used.

You could opt for a more elegant style of event stationary – as shown through these name places. The silver and gold link with the Christmas cracker demonstrates a more traditional Christmas Event style.

Contrasting with the previous example, we can tell this event is less “fun and party”. The toned down colours and elegant presentation present this event as more “sophisticated”.

3. Centrepieces

At Orchid Events, we define centrepieces into two categories; floral and non-floral. Although the possibilities are endless, and can intertwine – they do tend to be one or the other.

Therefore, when deciding on your Christmas Event centrepieces, you must decide what category you want your choice to go into.

Both can be done to an exceptional standard, using cool coloured flowers with touches of silver to further the Christmas/Winter aesthetic.  However, if you think that a floral centrepiece is not for you, then the possibilities are endless.

We suggest that you choose an item that associates well with your theme, and then elaborate and tweak/design this to become your perfect centrepiece.

With a non-floral centrepiece, flowers do tend to be used, but they aren’t the main focus. This is a great example of a non-floral Winter/Christmas Event centrepiece.A modernised Christmas Tree, designed through the use of a “frosted” branch – and complete with floral baubles, and a floral base.

Always make sure that your centrepieces don’t hinder social interaction across the table, you do not want to have a conversation blocker on your table; especially if some guests don’t know each other well

4. Entertainment

Entertainment is always a key aspect of any event. Keeping your guests entertained is the 4th and final key of your Christmas Event success. From party entertainers for children, to keepsake makers for all guests – this is an element that must be chosen carefully, or you risk wasting your money.

A Christmas Event is the perfect opportunity for costume and fancy dress. Party Entertainers for your mini guests not only keep the little ones entertained, but also further embrace you Winter/Christmas theme.

This “Father Christmas meets Winter Wonderland” was a great way to entertain kiddies at a previous Christmas Event by Orchid Events. The children were able to give him their Christmas lists and embrace the Wintery atmosphere.

However, if your event is for adults (for example, a Christmas work-do) then a Photo Booth could be a better suited choice (this would work for younger guests too however). Your guests would also be able to take home a keepsake of the event too.

Being able to personalise the Photobooth background, you can make this entertainment fit your theme to a T.

Overall, Christmas Event entertainment has endless possibilities. Most importantly, choose entertainment you think is fun and fits your theme well. This could be as simple as each guest making their own “Christmas Cocktail”.

Following our 4 Christmas Event Keys to Success should guide you to creating your perfect Christmas Event. Above all, however, if you are having fun – that is all that counts.

From the Orchid Team, we hope you all have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year x
