Italian inspiration: weddings abroad

Destination weddings can be a great way to do something different. Italy is known for its romantic scenery, whether your looking at getting married on a beautiful vineyard in Tuscany or in the stunning setting of one of Italy’s many lakes, this inspirational mood board will be sure to get you excited about planning the details of your special day.

Despite being located in London, and having an array of awe-inspiring venues at our fingertips, Orchid Events also loves to plan events abroad. We’ve created a moodboard to encompass the feel of an Italian wedding, and from which we could pull inspiration should we have the opportunity to plan one!

The beauty of Italy is certainly held in its rusticity, and the abundance of nature’s beauty. Additionally, the traditional Italian table layout, with long trestle tables, allows a relaxed atmosphere for all to enjoy.

As you can see in this moodboard, there is a clear preference for clean, white furnishings, set off by a multitude of flowers and plants. Furthermore, many Italian weddings are held outdoors, either overlooking the sea or in beautiful courtyards, surrounded by grey stone. The beauty of having your reception at dusk or into the night is also clear, and the twinkling lights make for a truly magical affair.

The lovely ‘naked cake’, whereby the layers are not covered, but simply dusted with icing sugar, once again incorporates a rustic and natural feel into the day. The white flowers delicately placed on the cake also emulate the clean, floral feel of an Italian wedding.

Beautiful centrepieces to the tables are formed of greenery and flowers, and elevated above the table to ensure a sense of opulence, as well as more practically not cutting someone’s view!

The miniature Limoncello bottles provide a perfect wedding favour, and allow your guests to take an appropriately Italian keep-sake away from your big day. The fun menu idea, incorporating the ever so Italian pastas and pizzas, once again ties in your location and its produce with your wedding.
